Observation and Analysis of Static Deflections from ~ansverse Long-Range Wakefields in the SLC*

چکیده
In the SLC main linac a train of three bunches is accelerated. The leading positron bunch is followed by two bunches of electrons. When the positron bunch passes off-mis through the RF structures, it excites dipole modes in the struttures, for example long-range transverse wakefields which deflect the subsequent electron bunches. Although the magnitude of the deflections is small one can infer the deflections by measuring the trajectory difference while changing the spacing between the positron and electron bunches. Knowing the positron trajectory the rnisalignrnents of the accelerating RF structures with respect to the -BPM’s can be calculated. We present measurements from the SLC linac and discuss the data analysis and errors. Observation and Analysis of Static Deflections from Transverse Long-range Wakefields in the Slc
In the SLC main linac a train of three bunches is accelerated. The leading positron bunch is followed by two bunches of electrons. متن کاملLong-Range Wakefields and Split-Tune Lattice at the SLC
At the SLC, a train consisting of one positron bunch fo l lowed by two electron bunches is accelerated in the linac, each separated by about 60 ns. Long-range transverse wakef ields from the leading bunch were found to cause up to a factor o f three increase in beam jitter for the trailing bunches. Incoming jitter is efficiently damped by BNS damping, but excitations in the middle of the linac ...
متن کاملComparison study between layered and functionally graded composite beams for static deflection and stress analyses
The aim of this paper is to compare the static deflections and stress results of layered and functionally graded composite beams under static load. In the comparison study, the results obtained for a cantilever beam under point load. The Timoshenko beam and the Euler-Bernoulli beam theories are used in the beam model. The energy based Ritz method is used for the solution of the problem and alge...
متن کاملCircuit and Scattering Matrix Analysis of the Wire Measurement Method of Beam Impedance in Accelerating Structures*
In order to measure the wakefield left behind multiple bunches of energetic electrons we have previously used the ASSET facility in the SLC [1]. However, in order to produce a more rapid and cost-effective determination of the wakefields we have designed a wire experimental method to measure the beam impedance and from the Fourier transform thereof, the wakefields. In this paper we present stud...
متن کاملObservation and Cures of Wakefield Effects in the Slc Linac*
I c-. The acceleration and transport of beams with high currents and low emittances are very carefully controlled for the SLC Linacl. Both longitudinal and transverse wakefields affect strongly the trajectory and emittance corrections used for operations during collisions. Longitudinal beam loading introduces an internal energy spread. This loading produces the expected doubled peaked energy sp...
